We Grow When We Serve

Part of BASIC's mission is to join in the work Jesus is doing to bless a broken world.  One way we do this is by serving others.  We desire to provide opportunities for students to recognize God’s work, step across barriers and join in.

Local Missions

Our local missions team desires to give you opportunities to serve our neighbors in our local communities. If you desire to serve beyond the borders of campus and live out the mission of Jesus, then contact us today!

College Spring Break header des moines

WHAT/WHY: InterVarsity's Des Moines Urban Plunge Spring Break experience is four days of exploring God's heart for Kingdom justice in the city of Des Moines. As we live in community in the city, we'll consider the "upside down" nature of the Kingdom of God. We'll explore God's redemptive plan surrounding racial reconciliation, wealth, and privilege. As we learn about these topics, we'll hear stories from local partners, share our own experiences, study scripture together, pray and worship together, eat and have fun together.

Email Tate Offenburger at for more information.

Global Missions

Each spring break we serve beyond our borders with partners in Jamaica and Haiti. Through long-standing relationships with our two partner churches, Orchard Hill and Nazareth Lutheran Church, we have taken teams to join in the ongoing mission there by helping without hurting. In Jamaica, we serve at two deaf schools through the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf and in Haiti, we serve alongside our missionaries at United Christians International. The trips rotate, but you can email for information about Jamaica, and email for information about Haiti.
