There’s a song by Hawk Nelson that goes a little something like this: “Let my words be life. Let my words be truth. I don’t want to say a word unless it points the world back to you”
Fittingly enough, the song is titled “Words”.
Those things that we use every day, whether it be with our hands or our mouths.
Those things that allow us to communicate with each other and our God in heaven.
Those things that bring us close to one another in deep conversation.
Those hurtful things that we say when we are angry and upset.
Those things that affect others more than we can comprehend.
They have serious power. The words we say can build people up or destroy them right where they stand. The words we read impact the way we think and act.
The most important set of words we need to read are in the Bible. After all, it is called THE Word.
Even in the Bible, we see people using words for the good (and bad) of the Lord. When God wanted something, he spoke. “And God said, ‘Let there be light!’, and there was light.”
If we keep our eyes focused on what God has to say in His Word, then we can live a heavenly lifestyle. Everything that we say and do should be for the good of the Lord.
Whatever we put our hearts to, those will be the words we speak. Are they empty, or are they filling? Do they bring death or life?
Our words should be filling and bring everlasting life.
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” –Ephesians 4:29.
Your words have serious power. May you make them filling and full of truth.
